Our Time as Parents
Mayson was born via a planned c-section. We were both VERY NERVOUS about this but also excited that we knew exactly when she was coming. Now that all is said and done we both would definitely do it again. It was actually a good experience, well as good as can be expected for major surgery. My recovery went, and is going well.
Kevin received two weeks of paternal leave from his company. That was the greatest gift we received. Having him home was amazing. He couldn’t have taken better care of Mayson and I. It was really hard for me to have him go back to work but we are getting used to daddy not being around during the day. Everyday everything gets easier. The first two weeks were awful I would cry and cry because I was constantly dreading breastfeeding. I would look at Kevin and feel so bad for him. He gained a tiny baby that he knew nothing about and a crazy ass wife all in one day. I would ask him constantly if we could give Mayson away and he would always say no, although I’m not entirely convinced that he meant it!
But now we both like her and we want to keep her. Yeah! Even though every time we take off her diaper she decides it’s a perfect time to either pee an amazing amount or have a big old projectile poo. The first time she had a projectile poo Kevin was changing her and he called me in for backup. The poo had flown from her bum up into the air and right back down INTO the wipes container. It was amazing, she made a basket.
We decided about a week ago that she needed to sleep in her own room. The first morning I went in to check on her and found her laying in her crib with her diaper completely off soaked in her own pee and poo. She has done this again since then. I can’t figure out how she gets the diaper off but it’s no fun for mom or dad when she does this.
She has reached her baby milestones weeks before she’s supposed to. She completely lifts her head up and has been for over a week and a half. She also can roll over and has been doing this for a week.
At her last weigh in she gained 9 ounces in 8 days! That’s pretty amazing seeing that the average baby gains ½ ounce a day, but she apparently gains over an ounce a day.
Well, I guess that’s all for now. That’s what we have been up too. It’s quite a change not being able to do whatever you want to whenever you want to. However, I will let you know that I DO shower everyday, I still shave my legs, and I sleep pretty good every night. So all in all she’s a decent baby and we love her.
